If you're downloading something in the background, the download will be marked as a lower priority & may be throttled by your system (translation: slower download) so that there's some bandwidth for other online-connected stuff to use, like online multiplayer.. Ps3 download speeds soooooo slow! (and of course 90% of all dl on the ps3 can't be performed in the background). many times, when there is a demo out on both the 360 and the ps3, i will. If you're doing it in the background then whatever else you're doing (playing games, music etc) is going to impact how quickly it'll complete, as it'll be sharing processor time and hard drive activity. if you're playing a game online whilst downloading, it'll obviously be even slower to complete..

My ps3 also downloads super slowly, dunno why, it's way way slower than my 360. i didn't really realise just how much slower it was until i got my 360 last year, it's massive. and i'm on sky unlimited..
